All about telework

Telework is a way to work without necessarily driving to work. Employees work from a location away from the employer's main office. Telephone lines, cellular and wireless, internet access as well as other means of contact are utilized for the interactions and information transfer.

Various arrangements are used, most commonly, an employee can work from a home office or drive to a telework center. Telework centers are places typically located between an employee's home and an employer's main office.

Allowing an employee to work at a "telecenter", a commute is usually shortened and traffic congestion is eased throughout metropolitan and urban areas. Having an employee work from home also benefits traffic congestion ease, creates more spare time (usually allotted to the commute) and saves the employer money in office space and power consumption.
